The thrilling conclusion to The Harker Trilogy

I’m finally free of my family’s curse.

Except now, the world is ending. FML.

Anthony, the vampire that killed my sister and my brother-in-law, has won. I’ve lost everything. I no longer have my powers. I have no idea where Amelia is. And the vampire I love has surrendered to the hunger that is throwing the world into chaos.

The worst part? I can’t do anything about it, because I’m no longer the Harker. Sure, I’m not dying anymore, but I’m barely living at this point.

But there may be one last chance to save us all. If only I can find it in me to make one final sacrifice.

EXCERPT:

The Twinkie is mushed and some of the cream is coming out, but as I pull it out of the wrapper, I can’t help but be gentle.

I found the single-serve pastry in a hollowed-out convenience store in downtown Birmingham a few days back. It’s the only thing resembling a cake that we’ve found on our way to Austin. In the aftermath of the apocalypse, all the grocery stores are empty as everyone panicked and stole every little thing they could get their hands on. Many of them are now hiding out in their houses during the night.

Those that are alive anyways.

I could make a cake myself, but we are never in one place long enough for me to find an oven and make one. With one arm, it’s a little…hard.

Besides, this is just a small ritual that I want to do myself. I don’t need to decorate it. I just need to…pay tribute. With the only kind of food that would survive the apocalypse.

I light the candle that I stuck in it, its soft glow flickering in the dying light. I give a small smile, feeling my heart break.

“Happy birthday, Amelia.”

Demigods and Monsters is the second book in the Sphinx series.

Review:

In this book we get bunch of other characters (we know only 3 important from book 1). It could be difficult to introduce that amount of characters in second book but author managed it briliantly!
This book is more about feeling and emotions than previous one. It was so vivid to me that i had to hołd myself back just not to scream or cry.
Usualy in situation when 2 boys hit on girl i have my fav one but here im chsnging my mind with every apperence of that character. What i can say i want both of them for myself!
In this book lots of characters anpre well developed we get to know something about them so we are able to judge them.
The world created here is so interesting that i want to skip in. In this book there are pkaces where what you think in false of all times.
I can’t wait to read book 3 as i really enjoyed this book.

Run or not to run in mythology nightmare? Curse of the Sphinx by Raye Wagner

26079201Author: Raye Wagner

ASIN: B013PD4U5O

Published: August 2015

Description:

How long can a monster stay hidden in plain sight?
Seventeen year-old Hope Nicholas has spent her entire life on the run. But no one is chasing her. In fact, no one even knows she exists. With her mom, she’s traveled from town to town, barely staying long enough to meet anyone, let alone make friends. And she’ll have to keep it that way.
It’s safer.
When her mother is brutally ripped away from her, Hope’s life shatters. Is this the fulfillment of Apollo’s curse? Is Hope, too, being hunted? Orphaned and alone, Hope flees again, but this time there’s no one to teach her who to trust—or how to love.
Set in a universe where mythology is alive and well in the modern world, Curse of the Sphinx irresistibly blends action, suspense and romance. Curse of the Sphinx is the first book in the young-adult Sphinx series.

Review:

What would you do when you are a monster? Some of us would scream, cry or so. But not our heroine here – Hope, she knows her way and what to do. She was great character but not an ideal one (which make me smiling like bananna) as i love that kind of heroine.
Other main character (Athan) is a guy who catch your eye, but you know he will play with you in some kind and when he is serious you can be sure of it (i want him for myself!!)
The world was like ours, but in the same time totaly different. I was into the Greek mythology since primary school so this topic i know in and out. In this world demigods lives among normal people.
This in not a book only for myths lovers. There we can find also a very sweet romance bethween main characters – i felt all Hope emotions during reading).
If you like mythology, romance and young adult this is a book for you!!
