Childhood sometimes can be different than we thought of it and with magic! – Forbidden by Shannon Eckrich (Othala 12)

Falling in love isn’t supposed to be deadly.
In Sector Twelve, being a Natural isn’t only dangerous, it’s a death sentence. And Layna just happens to be one. If the council were to find out, they would surely kill her, regardless whether her sister is the Regent or not. She had sworn to her mother she would keep her abilities a secret, and she has no intentions of breaking that promise. Then Seth came along.
Seth is also a Natural, and Layna not only finds herself drawn to him and his powers, but the harder she falls for him, the more her past begins to emerge. Memories which were erased to keep her safe. To keep her hidden. And to keep her away from Seth.
According to a prophecy, Layna has the ability to stop her sister and the council from destroying the sector. And only Seth can help her. But there’s one problem. Seth isn’t only her true soul mate, but according to the prophecy, he’s destined to kill her. Unless, she can change the future.
This is my second book from Othala world and it’s on the same level. I think i became addict to these world!
In these story we have strong and well developt characters that make the story very realistic in this point.
Layna is a sister of Regent but she is more than that (see more in the book). The book is told from her perspective. Her emotions are so real to me, i felt them like my own! The mystery around her slowly change into masterpice created by Shannon!
Seth wow! This is guy who can be tough and strong when he has to be and he can be nice and soft when he has that kind of moment! I want him!
The plot and the idea were made with a lot effort and you can see it while reading – events make sense in plot.
Generaly i liked this book very much but i would love to make Lyana less scary of her powers.
I recommend it to pnr lover, readers who love good plot and steam 😉

Great anthology with retelling! Loved it!

15 fairy tale classics reborn. 15 endings you’ll have to read to believe! What if Beauty was the beast? What if Little Red Riding Hood was a sacrifice? The stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty have been told countless times over, but never quite like this…

Once Upon a Happy Ending features your favorite tales retold by 16 incredible authors, including Ella Summers, KM Shea, Cameron Jace, Rebecca Hamilton, RaShelle Workman, and many more! If you like enchanting worlds, witty heroines, and inventive reimaginings, then you’ll love a collection that takes the classics to a whole new level.

Each author is different so i will give opinion about each story aby Then a general opinion.

Twelve dancing angels by Ella Summers
What will happen when you don’t know who you exactly are? you can do a lot of things, but you don’t have any memory about it.
Here dance is a metaphor for fight in the real meaning! Nyx has a lot of mysteries on Her own.
this short story gives only A glimpse of World and plot.

The Goose Girl by Brittany Fichter
This story is very smooth. I don’t know the original story, but this one made me interested in it! Story concentrate on emotions and how you feel when your world is turned upside down!

The Princess Who Chased Sheep by K.M. Shea
Story of a girl that is too clever for her surrounding. It’s a very nice and fast story. Here princess lost her place in palace and have to live on her own; then we have also a sly prince, that i found really interesting.

Chains of Gold by Shari L. Tapscott
A story of Rumplelstiltskin. In this world when you speak with Alfar (something like elves to me) you have to be careful what you promise.

Rapunzel’s Beauty by Casey Lane
Get one knight, his squire, princess and curse. Mix it in good proportions and you will get this story! I really liked that dark side of it.

Hansel and Gretel Devil Children by Jamie Campbell
The story is mix between Grimm brothers version and the most well known version of this story for children. For me sometimes it was too exaggerated from stepmother point of view.

Ellora’s Tail by RaShelle Workman
Short story, just a teaser. But i liked it.

The woods by Rebecca Hamilton & Connor Kressley
What would you do if your whole world was built on a lie? Deal with outside world and don’t allow to kill yourself. The concept and style of writing was great.

A Fistful of Stars by Cameron Jace
Story of Oz from other perspective. That’s not my style, but i liked it and would like to know more.

That Damn Pea by May Sage
Once again May Sage won my heart with her book/story. Strong female and cool guys – that’s her world. That story kept me smiling.

Beastly Beauty by T. Rae Mitchell
Short story. Interesting thinking and plot, but i would love to see this story more developed as well as character. It was good story, but too short in its form – as in longer story we would see more sides of characters, as each of them had perspectives to be well made.

Sleeping Cyborg by Aya Ling
That story was very Nice mix of sf and variation of fairy tale. Nice fast read with base of story. I liked Talia very much!

Vincent the Tailor by A.W. Axley
Tailor fight with zombies. Interesting series teaser

The Pastry Chef’s Apprentice by Melanie Cellar
Cinderella put in Palace (apprentice) and Her way with Stefan. I can tell it really catched my eye. I liked the best mail characters and maids (they rocks!)

Through the Mirror by Rachel Morgan
A New way of telling Snow White! very smooth read. But still it shold be longer.

anthology for me was a trip to my children stories in an older way. I recommend it for sure!

I was struggling during reading this book. I found there spelling mistakes for example were instead of aware. There were also ” without begining or end to it.
I ususaly don’t have problems in following events in plot but here sometimes i was asking myself how she get it?
In this book even a 12 year old girl has more sense than heroine and she even say so!
And whats the most important to me – there was no warning about adult context in this book (and for me it was counted in very bad as i was looking for fantasy without moments in it!), but now in description it was added and thats the reason i change my stars from 2 to 3 stars!
And whats more i couldn’t begin to like main character.
I hope to try more books from this author to change my opinion

But could she trust him? Or should she trust Jackson? She had to make a choice—and her life might just depend on it.

This read was really quick, too quick! I want more and more!
We have here a girl who was turned to a vampire. I was glad to see her strouggele as she would be a robot.
Jackson – i loved him for bigger part od the book. He sometimes was too good i think would be a good word.
Lucas – vampire. old, powerful, sexy.
Heroine had verry difficult choice to make.
The tenison was in the air for sure.

I recommend this book to readers who like:
strong girls
brave human boys
description of school Life

This mix in that proportions gabe very good effect; )

Othala with winter background – Winter Souls by Angela Fristoe

31941056Author: Angela Fristoe

Published: November 2016

To reclaim his soul, they will risk everything…

For six years, Elora has been confined to an island with the Ice Witch, Niobe. When her captor dies, Elora flees across the ice bridge back to Mason, the man she’s kept in her heart all these years. But Mason isn’t the same man she left behind. In his place is a cold and emotionless stranger.

Mason will never forget the day Elora disappeared over the ice bridge. It was the day the Ice Witch tore out his soul. He has settled into his life as a Tank Guard, protecting the small inlet at the northern edge of the sector from ravagers. But with Elora’s return, he has an opportunity to reclaim his soul and the life he thought lost forever.

It’s a dangerous task that will lead Mason and Elora to the depths of the Underworld. It’s a journey none has ever returned from.

This is a story that shows what can you do for those who you love or used to love few years ago, even if that person changed almost completely. Can you throw away everything and do whatever is needed?
The heroine – Elora went through hell for six years but found strength to fight and go on her own, do what she had to do. I liked her attitude: seemed weak and fragile, but inside she was strong.
The hero – Mason – soulless guy, who beside it still has something inside.
This book is steamy in some parts. Plot made in good way. They deal with a lot of obstacles in sometimes better way than others.
You have to read it!

32022699Author: Anna Santos

Peril strikes when Alpha Simon wants to reclaim Camille. In a mad quest for power, he wages war on the other packs. Now more than being saved, Camille needs to be the savior.
This is my first book from Anna Santos.
I kept reading until i got till the end! I read it within one day – for me not usual.
I used to read this kind of books a lot, but this one was so fresh in concept with mates (more in book); the motive with angels and gargoyles got my heart.
The relationship between Cami and Jacob was true and there were emotions and behaviors not artificial about her attitude for Jacob after what had happened to her.
This book has what good book needs 🙂
This is: good and interesting characters; other characters not only as background with more than one dimension plot with fresh things and for sure good and memorable writing!
Anna this series is going to be one of my favorites!
